Why LOCAL Hospital Policy Is Needed to Protect Children
From Sex Change Surgery Agendas
In June, a federal judge overturned Florida 2023 law that bans "puberty blockers and hormone replacement therapy for transgender minors" which reflects the alarming ability of federal judges to strike down FL law protecting children.
"Florida’s ban on puberty blockers and hormone replacement therapy for transgender minors and restrictions for adults are both unconstitutional, a federal judge ruled Tuesday." https://floridaphoenix.com/2024/06/11/federal-judge-blocks-ban-and-restrictions-on-health-care-treatments-for-trans-people/.
“In the meantime, the federal courts have a role to play in upholding the Constitution and laws,” Hinkle wrote. “The State of Florida can regulate as needed but cannot flatly deny transgender individuals safe and effective medical treatment—treatment with medications routinely provided to others with the state’s full approval so long as the purpose is not to support the patient’s transgender identity.”

"Florida’s Health Department did not immediately return a request for comment. A spokesperson for DeSantis said the state will appeal Hinkle’s ruling.
'Through their elected representatives, the people of Florida acted to protect children in this state, and the Court was wrong to override their wishes,” they said in an emailed statement. “We disagree with the Court’s erroneous rulings on the law, on the facts, and on the science. As we’ve seen here in Florida, the United Kingdom, and across Europe, there is no quality evidence to support the chemical and physical mutilation of children. These procedures do permanent, life-altering damage to children, and history will look back on this fad in horror.” "Last month, a federal just ruled that Florida's 2023 law that Judge strikes down Florida ban on gender-affirming care" by Brooke Migdon - 06/11/24 2:24 PM ET https://thehill.com/homenews/lgbtq/4716258-florida-ban-transgender-gender-affirming-care-judge-strikes-down/
The candidates below are the only four Sarasota Memorial Hospital board candidates in the primary who are NOT backed by a big money PAC.
They put patient welfare FIRST. All four have been deeply dedicated to helping those in our community in their darkest hours:
Stephen Guffanti, MD has been advocating for years for the hospital to admit patient problems and FIX them - not keep them swept under a rug.
Mary Flynn O’Neill is committed to transparency and accountability of all operations within the Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The community is most important to her, and the people should always be informed about all hospital procedures and policies.
She is dedicated to truthful fiscal responsibility for the taxpayers of Sarasota County to not cut corners. She will work for efficient and effective ways for Sarasota Memorial Hospital to provide the highest quality care to all patients that come through those doors in the County.
Tamzin Rosenwasser, MD has provided incredible support to patients and doctors alike through her leadership roles as current Treasurer and past President of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. AAPS recently helped ethical physicians speak up in the name of patients safety, by winning its recent landmark case, ABIM vs. AAPS.
Tanya Parus' candidacy is not rooted in politics but in a deep commitment to addressing critical healthcare issues and transforming Sarasota Memorial Hospital into a safe and welcoming institution. Her vision transcends political divides, as these issues affect all patients, regardless of background. Tanya advocates for excellence in patient care, placing people above profits. Her candidacy is not about choosing a political side but about prioritizing the well-being of every individual. Imagine voting for someone who will always prioritize your health and well-being over financial gains. That's why it's crucial to consider Tanya Parus as a candidate who represents everyone.
